Scottish Football Association

An online platform to help coaches find the stars of tomorrow.

Scottish FA

The Project

The Scottish Football Association wanted to create an online social network and resource bank for football coaches, offering a range of tools and information to assist them in planning training sessions and drills, as well as giving them the ability to engage with other coaches and SFA staff.

Zen-developed, mobile device-compatible website combines social network functionality with coaching resources and tools to support thousands of grassroots and professional football coaches, volunteers and club leaders in Scotland, giving them access to a huge library of SFA-endorsed football drills and sessions.

Premium subscribers are able to create, save and share coaching drills and sessions plans, using a bespoke ‘chalkboard’ app, while all members can build their own profiles which will act as coaching CVs and engage in discussions with other coaches in general forums, those at their own level of qualification in locked-down forums and also guest coaches in Q&A sessions.

Users can also create friend networks, send direct messages and rate and leave comments on others’ sessions, while SFA coaches and staff will be available online to help forge stronger lines of communication with the Scottish coaching community.

The Results

The ‘Coachworld’ website was developed to support the SFA’s corporate objective of creating a ‘coaching community’ within Scotland and act as a vital educational and communications resource.

Princes Trust Zen worked with Prince's Trust designing two mobile apps as well as conducted UX interviews and testing with young people enrolled in the program.
