Meet Zen's Newest Digital Marketing Intern

The Zen Agency is delighted to announce that we've undertaken a new digital marketing intern. Ellis Mcewan is a third-year, International Marketing student at Glasgow Caledonian University. Ellis will be working with the digital marketing team here at Zen and in today's blog post, we'll be getting to know our new digital marketing intern.

What made you interested in pursuing a career in digital marketing?

I wanted to pursue a career in digital marketing because I always enjoyed learning about marketing within business management during high school and it was my favourite subject. With social media and online networks being an integral part of my daily life, I was interested in developing the skills and knowledge about digital marketing, as for many businesses this has now become the new way forward.

What do you hope to get out of the internship?

Stepping out of my comfort zone is important to me, so I hope this internship builds my confidence and allows me to gain hands-on experience that I've never had before. I also want to learn new technical skills that I don't get the opportunity to learn within University as these will be great to add to my CV for future career development.

What made you choose Zen?

I decided to choose Zen for my internship because they have many years of industry experience working with well-known established brands. I felt it was important to learn from an experienced team also because Zen provides services like social media marketing and content creation, which is where I want to develop my knowledge most. 

What are some of your hobbies/interests outside work?

My main hobbies and interests in my day-to-day life are keeping active, I enjoy swimming as my go-to fitness and occasionally attempting to go to the gym. I enjoy cooking and love spending time with my friends and family over a nice meal. I also enjoy watching crime drama series like NCIS, 911, and The Rookie.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

If I could travel anywhere in the world it would be to Hawaii. This has been a dream holiday for me and my Dad for years as many of our favourite shows are set there. 

If you could only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life what would you pick?

I could only pick one cuisine for the rest of my life; it would have to be Italian. I could live off the pasta. 

What are you looking forward to most while working at Zen?

I’m looking forward to gaining industry knowledge and learning more about the day-to-day operations of a marketing agency. I'm also excited to expand my knowledge into new areas that I haven't had the chance to learn about.

What is your proudest personal achievement?

My proudest personal achievement would be getting into university and attaining a distinction throughout each year of my degree so far.
